The Roar Gossip
Liverpool want Dani Alves, Milner holds talk with Milan, Roma and Inter, Arsenal interest in Aleksandar Dragovic...Arsenal are to meet Palermo over Paulo Dybala, Manchester City could move for Carlo Ancelotti, Newcastle want Andreas Beck...
With Glen Johnson likely to move on from Liverpool this summer, his departure will create a gap within Brendan Rodgers' squad for an attacking right-back. Rodgers' 3-4-3 formation utilises wing-backs, with Lazar Markovic and Raheem Sterling both struggling when asked to carry out that role.
The Daily Star go big on claims that Dani Alves may be Johnson's replacement, with the Barcelona full-back available on a free transfer this summer. Alves' agent has all but confirmed that the Brazilian will leave the Camp Nou, with a move to England regularly mooted.
Manchester United are considered the favourites to sign Alves, but the Star believe that Liverpool are confident of getting their man with a significant contract offer. It's worth pointing out that Alves is actually 18 months older than Johnson.
MILNER HOLDS FOREIGN TALKS
Big line in the Guardian now, who claim that James Milner is seriously considering leaving Manchester City for foreign climes.
The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season, and has made no commitment to signing a new deal in Manchester. It seems that Milner is tired of not being given a regular starting place in Manuel Pellegrini's midfield. He has only started 13 of City's 28 Premier League matches this season.
The Guardian report that the midfielder has held preliminary talks with Milan, Roma and Internazionale, plus two clubs in Spain. We'd like it to be Atletico and Valencia, please.
One thing that does seem clear is that the ball lies in Milner's court, with Pellegrini evidently wanting him to stay. "All the people at the club who decide if James stays or goes want him to stay," said the Chilean last month. "There are two parts to a contract and James must decide what he wants to do with his future."
ARSENAL INTEREST IN DRAGOVIC
There have been a cavalcade of rumours regarding Arsene Wenger's desires to further strengthen his defence in the summer. The Daily Mail bring a newish name into the mix, Dynamo Kiev's Aleksandar Dragovic.
The 24-year-old Austria international is earning plaudits for his performances in Ukraine, which the Mail believe has alerted the attentions of Borussia Dortmund. They report that Manchester United and West Ham have also scouted the defender - spot the odd one out in that trio.
The Mail claim that Arsenal intend to scout Dragovic during Dynamo Kiev's Europa League last-16 tie against Everton before deciding whether to make an offer.
We did like this line: 'Manchester United's Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling have also been discussed at Arsenal as they weigh up more summer spending'. Presumably 'discussed' as in "I tell who we don't want to buy: Jonny Evans or Chris Smalling."
