Arsenal and Man Utd lose ground to Man City in race for ex-Chelsea star Kevin De Bruyne
MANCHESTER CITY director of football Txiki
Begiristain has met with Kevin De Bruyne's representatives to discuss a
potential move to the Etihad Stadium.
The Wolfsburg forward is enjoying a stellar
campaign with 14 goals and 24 assists in just 38 appearances and his
form has alerted the Premier League's top clubs.
Premier League champions City are eager to land De Bruyne and Belgian paper Het Laatste Nieuws claims Begiristain has been in a second round of discussions with the player's aides.
Wolfsburg
are keen to keep hold of the Belgium international for at least one
more season but Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and PSG are
also reportedly keen.
The German club's boss Dieter Hecking recently claimed De Bruyne is ignoring speculation over his future.
Hecking said: "He is aware of the interest from the top European clubs.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho opted to sell De Bruyne for £17m last year - a decision openly questioned by Blues winger Eden Hazard.
"He is a great player. Mourinho decided to let him go and not play him," Hazard told French paper L'Equipe.
"It was not my decision, even though I know very well that he could play at Chelsea because he has tremendous qualities.
"I think at Chelsea, you have more pressure than Wolfsburg. It's a shame he's gone but he'll have a successful career."
