Arsene Wenger is ready to take advantage of Raheem Sterling's contract stand-off at Liverpool by making a move for the winger in the summer.
The Arsenal manager is said to have made a 'discreet enquiry' about the midfielder's availability, according to reports, and is likely to join Manchester City in the race to land one of England's hottest properties.
Sterling has stalled on talks at Anfield until the end of the season as he focuses on his football but the fear is he could leave in the summer.
The 20-year-old has two years left to run on his £35k-a-week current deal and Liverpool have upped their offer to around the £90,000 mark to hold on to their star man.

Arsenal have tried to sign Sterling in the past. They hoped to land him as a 10-year-old long before he joined QPR.

There have been suggestions - with discussions between Arsenal and Theo Walcott over a new contract likely to be shelved until the summer - that a potential swap deal could be on the cards.
Walcott tweeted last week that contract talks have yet to begun as he too concentrates on his football and it is feared he could leave the club.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is an admirer of the England player and could be open to a potential swap plus cash deal if Sterling refuses to sign a new contract.
